A senior Mexican security official said authorities were investigating a video showing dozens of uniformed soldiers with military-grade weapons and armored vehicles apparently linked to a large drug cartel.
The video, which went viral on Friday, July 17th, appears to be a demonstration of strength by members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) – one of Mexico’s most powerful criminal gangs.
Many of the vehicles shown parked on the road have improvised gun turrets or steel armor.
Dozens of masked men appear to be wearing bulletproof vests and holding rifles and are also heard shouting that they are “Mencho men” – the nick-name used by Jalisco New Generation Cartel leader, Nemesio Oseguera.
