Greek-US joint military exercise in Crete (impressive photos-video)

The Greek Armed Forces took part in a joint military exercise with the US “Aircraft Carrier Impact Force” (CSG-8) in the wider sea area of ​​Crete on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 as well as on Tuesday 4 and Wednesday 5 January 2022 in the context of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff  planning regarding the international collaborations of the Greek Armed Forces.

Greece participated in the training with the Frigate ELLI, the Rapid Patrol Missile LASKOS, the KATSONIS submarine and F-4, F-16 fighter jets, while the US forces included the US CSG-8 consisting of the USS HARRY S. TRUMAN aircraft carrier, the USS BAINBRIDGE, USS GRAVELY, USS ROSS, USS ROOSEVELT destroyers, the Norwegian HNoMS FRIDTJOF NANSEN frigate and F-18 Fighter Aircraft.

From the afternoon hours of Tuesday, January 4, 2022 until the morning hours of Wednesday, January 5, the frigate ELLI joined the USS HARRY S. TRUMAN.

During the joint trainings, advanced maneuvers and objects of air defense, anti-submarine warfare and surface warfare were performed.

These joint trainings took place in the framework of the updated Mutual Defense Cooperation Agreement (MDCA), contributing to the promotion of the level of operational readiness, combat capability and cooperation of the participants in a bilateral and allied framework.
