An explosion occurred on the “Trinity Spirit” offshore oil floating production storage & offloading ship (FPSO) off the coast of Nigeria.
The ship that exploded could carry up to 2 million barrels a day. Video shows the huge ship on fire while sinking in the sea, while dense black smoke rises up to the sky.
According to the oil company to which the ship belongs, “no deaths have been confirmed at this time, but we can confirm that 10 people were on board before the incident and we are giving priority to investigations regarding their safety and security”, the statement read.
