Eight Apache AH-64 helicopters and one Chinook 47D helicopter took part at the Krania firing range in Thessaly in a joint Greek-US military exercise.
The regular exercise named “Zeus” involved firing against ground targets and was carried out from 7 to 11 February at the “Kranaia” firing range between units of Greek helicopters from the 1st Army Air Brigade and the USA from the 7th Squadron 17th Cavalry Regiment.
As announced, the 7th Squadron 17th Cavalry Regiment has been deployed at the Army Air Base in Stefanovikio as part of Operation Atlantic Resolve.
During the “Zeus” exercise, virtual shots were fired against ground targets, scenarios for planning and conducting regular helicopter missions in mixed formations, as well as supply scenarios from advanced helicopter refueling points, in order to increase the interoperability between the two units.
The Greek armed forces took part with four Apache AH-64 helicopters and 1 Chinook 47D helicopter, while the USA with 4 Apache AH-64 helicopters.
