Coronavirus – Re-infection disease certificates to end for some

There was a de-escalation of the hard indicators, with the new hospital admissions decreasing by 13% in the last week, while the admissions of children and adolescents also decreased

Newsroom February 17 07:07

The Greek expert committee said people re-infected with Covid-19 who have been double jabbed will not be required to produce a certificate of disease and enjoy the privileges of the fully vaccinated. As the head of the committee, Vana Papaevangelou said during the daily pandemic briefing no disease certificate will be issued in case of re-infection (as was the case until now for those who were ill for the first time and received a certificate which guaranteed them the rights of those vaccinated).

Ms. Papaevangelou clarified that the committee has decided to issue the certificate in case of re-infection only to a special group i.e the vaccinated citizens who did not manage to take the third dose due to the infection.

Papaevangelou also stated that the positivity rate currently stands at 6.4%, 96% of which are Omicron, and 2.2% Delta. “We are taking small but steady steps to relax the measures. The Omicron pandemic wave remains stable but there is de-escalation in the hard indicators. We will coexist with the virus for a long time and with the current picture we are not ready to follow the example of other countries and go for the lifting of all restrictive measures,” she said.
