Greek formal complain to Turkey for the threats to Greek islands – Turkish media speak of Turkish military intervention

Greece speaks of Turkish escalation - Provocative statements by Turkish journalists & analysts in the same line that Ankara has methodically drawn

Newsroom February 17 02:01

A diplomatic note of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs was given to Turkey.

The Foreign Ministry underlined to the Turkish side the strong dissatisfaction of Greece, as well as its protest against the recent statements of Turkish officials, who questioned the Greek sovereignty over the Aegean islands, accusations that of course the Greek side rejects as illegal.

It was stressed that these statements are not only counterproductive, but an escalation of Turkish provocative behavior.

The oxymoron of Turkish positions was further emphasized, as the Turkish side constantly invokes International Law, at the moment when it is blatantly violating it.

In this context, a clear reference was made to the casus belli (threat of war), to the Turkish-Libyan “memorandum”, to the wider Turkish rhetoric about the “Blue Homeland”.

Meanwhile, pro-government media in Turkey are creating a pro-war climate against Greece, proposing the issue of the so-called “demilitarization” of the Aegean islands. Journalists and analysts on the mainstream media speak openly and directly even about a Turkish military invasion to the Greek islands.

Speaking to CNN Turk, strategic analyst Abdullah Ciftci describes when will be the best time for Turkey to invade the Greek islands.

“Due to China, the disintegration within the EU will grow and interests will stand out. There are problems with Poland and Hungary within the EU. NATO (purpose) may be questioned. Then I believe that Turkey will be able to go ahead with the operation it wants on the islands. And not now. Now Turkey is fighting in the diplomatic arena, but I believe that in the future it will have this opportunity”, Ciftci bluntly said, with the journalist seeming to agree with his views…

Mitsotakis: “Farmers will receive every euro they are entitled to — Solutions come through dialogue, not roadblocks”

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis assured farmers that all payments owed to them will be delivered in full, emphasizing that while agricultural workers have every right to demand more support, “extreme forms of protest, such as roadblocks, may exert pressure but ultimately disrupt daily life and do not help us move forward faster”
