Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis is addressing the Parliament on the measures to face the wave of cost rises due to the energy crisis.

The PM reiterated the proposal for a common market and storage of natural gas at the EU level, adding that this year, the Greeks will pay 920 million euros less compared to what they were assured in 2018 on SYRIZA.

He added that almost eight out of ten will see up to 40% reduced tax on their property (ENFIA).
Referring to the war in Ukraine, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis began his speech in Parliament, on the occasion of the bill of the Ministry of Finance to support citizens in the face of precision and the energy crisis.

“The whole EU is experiencing it with state budgets being besieged. Unfortunately, the same is true of family budgets. “That is why the IMF and the ECB are warning that the conflict in Ukraine could undermine the global recovery we have all been waiting for since the health crisis.”

“I have already instructed the Energy Regulatory Authority to start analyzing the data of all energy companies and based on this finding the government will take the appropriate actions,” said the prime minister, stressing that it is not an easy equation, as the Greek market is linked to the wider market.

“One thing is for sure: Where profiteering is detected, companies will be called upon to contribute where citizens have suffered losses.”
