The ancient Greek underworld came to life at an Oxford school last week.

On Friday, Cheney School’s Rumble Museum welcomed students, staff and visitors to the underworld, and on arrival were introduced to Charon, the ferryman, before being asked to pay him an obol for entry.

There was then a range of characters to meet, in addition to stalls and activities, including a storytelling stall, games stall, plus mocktails and refreshments.

The event also acted as the launch of Primordial Soup and Pick ‘n’ Styx – two graphic novels created by Cheney students.

Lorna Robinson, director of the Rumble Museum, said: “It was brilliant to welcome so many visitors, and well done to our museum council team for their relentless energy and creativity.”
