Turkey is escalating its rhetoric against Greece again, as according to a news report published in the Turkish newspaper “Sabah”, the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan is preparing to “present documents” against Greece in NATO concerning the alleged “militarisation” of Greek islands and the visits of Greek officials there.
According to the Sabah article, Erdogan is preparing to make public at the forthcoming NATO Summit documents collected by Ankara that “show that Greece is violating the Lausanne treaties”.
The newspaper’s report entitled “Landing with documents at the NATO Summit ” specifically states that the Turkish president will denounce Greece before all members of the Alliance for the militarisation of the islands, and the visits of senior officials to them.
In particular, Sabah speaks of “provocative visits by the Deputy Minister of Defence of Greece” emphasising that they should not take place.
At the same time, the Turkish president will raise the issue of Sweden and Finland, which, as Turkey claims, support terrorism.
