Newsroom June 30 05:58

Educational seminar-workshop entitled “Greek Sounds” was held on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at the Mezzanine of the Hellenic Center (168 Lonsdale str). The seminar was addressed to teachers of all levels of the Greek language and concerned with the use of creative digital literacy in the educational process.

The event was held under the auspices of the Hellenic Community of Melbourne, the Association of Young Greek Teachers of Victoria, as well as the Department of Home Affairs, and the Community Grants Hub of the State of Victoria and was based on project work carried out in 2021 by the students of the DG High School of the Hellenic Community of Melbourne (City Campus) in collaboration with Monash University.

The result of the work was the creation of a series of podcasts, which were heard by ERT WEBRADIO on a world broadcast and on the show “Voice of Greece”.

Speakers of the seminar were:

• Dr. Clare Hall, Lecturer at Monash University, Department of Education and project manager.
• Dr. Dimitris Koutsogiannis, Professor of the Faculty of Philosophy of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
• Ms. Vasiliki Lambropoulou, professor of philology, teacher of DG High School who completed the project.

Also, the students who completed the project “Greek Sounds” – “Sounds Greek” talked about their experience and participated in the workshop that followed, helping teachers to use applications and create podcasts.

The workshop was coordinated by Mr. Jeremias Artis, theater educator of the Hellenic Community of Melbourne.

The aim of the seminar was to inform and familiarize teachers with the use of modern digital media and in particular the creation of podcasts and their integration into teaching. Many teachers of morning and evening schools of the Public, Private and Community sector attended the seminar and expressed their enthusiasm for the knowledge gained on modern and original practices, which will make the lesson more interesting and attractive for students of Greek schools.
