Musk backs DeSantis amid rise to top of GOP

"He’ll easily beat Biden, doesn’t even need to campaign"

Newsroom July 13 09:01

Elon Musk dismissed the notion of former President Donald Trump running for office again in 2024 with Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) as his running mate, saying that Trump was too old and that DeSantis would wipe the floor with Democrat President Joe Biden in an election.

Musk’s remarks come as he has faced increased attacks from the former president despite stating publicly that he does not hate Trump.

“I don’t hate the man, but it’s time for Trump to hang up his hat & sail into the sunset,” Musk tweeted. “Dems should also call off the attack – don’t make it so that Trump’s only way to survive is to regain the Presidency.”

When someone advocated for a Trump-DeSantis ticket in 2024, Musk responded, “Trump would be 82 at end of term, which is too old to be chief executive of anything, let alone the United States of America.”

“If DeSantis runs against Biden in 2024, then DeSantis will easily win – he doesn’t even need to campaign,” Musk continued.
