Vladimir Putin’s speech announcing a partial military mobilisation seven months after the invasion of Ukraine has caused a chain reaction. Thus, at dawn on Thursday (03:15 Greek time), the European foreign ministers who are in New York for the UN General Assembly are expected to hold an emergency meeting against the background of the developments in Ukraine.

It is recalled that earlier in the afternoon of the Wednesday the representative of the EU Peter Stano launched an attack on Vladimir Putin, speaking of a “very dangerous nuclear gamble” by the Russian president.

“Putin is using nukes as part of his arsenal of terror and that’s unacceptable” Mr. Stano said and called on the International Community to pressure Putin to stop this irresponsible behaviour. Meanwhile, he clarified that “the illegal referendums” in the Russian-controlled areas of Ukraine, which Putin announced that he would support in every way,  cannot be recognised.” He added Putin was becoming desperate and the only thing that will be achieved by this will be the escalation of the crisis.
