Celebration of Saint Dimitrios in Thessaloniki in the presence of the Greek President (video of Zeus F-16 team)

Thessaloniki is celebrating its patron Saint Dimitrios with President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou in attendance. The celebration coincides with the anniversaries of the liberation of the city and of Greek national OXI Day on October 28, 1940.

At 8:00 a.m. the raising of the Greek flag at the White Tower monument took place by the Third Army Corps and of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, in the presence of the President of the Republic.

At 11.30 the official doxology took place for the feast of the Patron Saint of Thessaloniki Saint Dimitrios and the liberation of Thessaloniki (1912), in the Holy Church of the Patron Saint Agios Dimitrios, patron of His Holiness the Metropolitan of Thessaloniki Anthimos.

At 1:30 p.m. the President will attend a lunch at the Guard Officers’ Club of Thessaloniki and in the afternoon at 6:30 p.m. she will go to the celebration ceremony of the patron saint of Thessaloniki, Agios Dimitrios, the 110th anniversary of the liberation of the city and the 1940s resistance against the invasion of the forces of Mussolini at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Finally, in the evening at 21.00, she will attend a reception at the town hall.
