Greek tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas failed once more to overcome Novak Djokovic in his first match at the ATP Finals.
For the third time in a month, the Serb defeated the Greek champion, who now needs to clinch two wins, starting with tomorrow’s match against Daniil Medvedev.
“It’s clear that I wanted to start with a win, but I want to keep an optimistic attitude. This defeat will make me even more motivated in the next two games and the main thing from the beginning was to enjoy my matches here. Having a good time is my first priority anyway, regardless of the results.”
Afterward, Tsitsipas also spoke about his goal to climb to No. 1 in the world ranking, saying that he does not want it to become an obsessive idea: “It is a dream and a long-term goal. But I’m in no rush to get there and, to be honest, I think I’ll make it there one day. What I need to do is focus on my tennis, on my improvement and not obsess about No. 1.”
