The lawyer of Stefanos Tsitsipas offered a different perspective on the incident involving the Lotus on Attiki Odos, which resulted in a citation and fine for excessive speed.

Thanasis Papathanasiou clarified that the Greek tennis player was not the driver of the vehicle at the time of the violation, but rather another individual to whom Tsitsipas had lent the car — something that, as he noted, happens often — while Tsitsipas himself was in the passenger seat. According to him, the matter has already been settled.

“Regarding the incident that became public, the car was being driven by a third person. The issue of the fine and the submission of the driver’s license have all been handled,” his lawyer told tennisnews.

The incident occurred on September 24 on Attiki Odos, when a traffic camera recorded Tsitsipas’s Lotus traveling at 210 km/h.
