The memorial service in the Metropolis of Athens for the 40 days since the death of the King Constantine former King of the Greeks was completed shortly before 12 noon.
After the completion of the memorial service, the family of the King Constantine stood on the steps of the Metropolis and greeted those gathered outside the holy temple.
In the midst of applause from those who had gathered outside the Metropolis, his sister, Sophia of Spain, arrived first, shortly before 11 am.
It was followed a little while later by his wife, Anna-Maria, accompanied by her son Prince Pavlos, and her daughter-in-law, Marie Sandal.
Traffic in the surrounding streets had been interrupted from Syntagma Square in order to allow for the smooth arrival of the approximately 300 officials who attended the ceremony.
Government minister who attended were booed by the crowd who did not forget or forgive the fact that the Greek government did not pay the due respect at the King Constantine’s funeral.
After the end of the memorial, family and guests were taken to the Stavros Niarchos Foundation for coffee and condolences as it is accustomed, while on Sunday morning the family will be in Tatoi for a procession over the grave of the former King of the Greeks.
The tomb made of marble is complete. There is a question regarding what will be written on the grave. It is the family’s wish that the unveiling of the tomb take place on Sunday, in the presence of his wife Anna Maria, their children and their guests. The area is guarded by police forces until Sunday, when the unveiling will take place.
