Two women were found dead in Astritsa Karditsa due to bad weather Daniel.
As public broadcaster ERT reported, the two elderly women were found in different houses.
Earlier today, the men of the 7th EMAK found a 49-year-old farmer who was missing from Petroto in the municipality of Domokou dead. He was found crushed by debris. The 49-year-old is the fourth fatality from the bad weather Daniel. The unfortunate man was found in a spot that had become inaccessible and impassable due to the torrents, causing total destruction in the area.
An update on the matter was provided by the Fire Brigade, stating: “A man’s body was retrieved from a stream near the settlement of Petroto Domokos Fthiotida and was taken by ambulance of EKAB. The body was taken by an ambulance from Potosito, a body was taken by an ambulance from the Potosito area, and 6 firefighters of the 7th EMAK were involved.”
The 49-year-old had left early Wednesday morning from his home to tend to his livestock before the dangerous weather conditions broke out and since then he had not given any signs of life. In the end, the fears of his own people were realised and the search ended in the most tragic way.
On Wednesday afternoon (6/9), an 82-year-old man was found dead in the area of Ellinopyrgos Karditsa, who was also missing. The elderly man was crushed by a vehicle and his body was found by a Fire Brigade team, which operated at the scene with 8 firefighters and 3 vehicles.
Earlier yesterday, an 87-year-old woman was found dead in Magnesia, while on Tuesday morning, a 51-year-old man died in the district of Agia Aikaterini in Volos when he was crushed by a wall that retreated from the rushing waters.
