Four dead in head-on collision between double-decker bus and car in northern Greece (photos)

Four people were killed and 53 injured in an accident that occurred shortly before 7:00 Sunday morning at the 522nd kilometer of Athens – Evzona, in the municipality of Paionia Kilkis.

The accident occurred when a double-decker tourist bus with Serbian plates and 78 passengers collided head-on with a car with four passengers. The three passengers in the car were recovered dead and the fourth was seriously injured.

Shortly after the bus collided with the car, another car crashed into the two vehicles. However, the two passengers, a woman and a child, were unhurt. The bus and one car fell into a ditch where there was no water.

According to reports, 53 people have been injured and have been taken by ambulances to hospitals in Kilkis and Thessaloniki. The police and fire brigade rushed to the scene, operating with 18 firefighters and 6 vehicles
