Stefanos Tsitsipas (4th seed) crashed out of the China Open after losing in straight sets to Chilean Nicolas Jarry, ranked 24th in the world (4-6, 4-6) in the first round.
Stefanos had six aces, better-serving percentages (85% points won in the first), and only 8 unforced errors, but it was his poor returns (return rating was 147-59) and the Chilean’s 27 winners that decided the match.
Tsitsipas will now prepare for Shanghai, in a 1000 tournament very crucial, since the qualification for the ATP Finals will be decided there for the Greek tennis player.
