Greece’s Alternate Interior Minister will meet with members of the Greek Community of Melbourne

Organized in collaboration with the Greek Consulate to Victoria, the event is open to all

The Greek Community of Melbourne will welcome the arrival of Greece’s Alternate Interior Minister, Theodoros Livaniou who will be hosted the Greek Center on Thursday, March 21st at 6:30PM.

Organized in collaboration with the Greek Consulate to Victoria, the event is open to all and will offer the opportunity to the visiting Minister to present on a range of matters that affect the diaspora with particular information on the upcoming elections and in particular the postal vote.

The Minister’s visit is poised to strengthen ties between Greece and its diaspora in Australia, fostering a deeper understanding of key issues affecting the Greek community.

Attending the event will also be the distinguished Lord Mayor of Melbourne Sally Cap, who will extend a warm welcome to the Minister.

We invite all media, community leaders and members of the public to join us in welcoming the Minister and participating in this event.

ABOUT THE GREEK COMMUNITY

The Greek Community of Melbourne is a community organisation founded in 1897. It represents the large and vibrant Greek community in Victoria presenting Education programs to over 2000 students, Cultural programs that include the landmark Antipodes Festival and advocacy across a broad range of issues.

 

ABOUT THEODOROS LIVANIOU: BIO

Born in Athens, in 1977. Graduated from the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, holds a master’s degree in quality management and technology.

Until May 2023, he served as Deputy Minister of Digital Governance. From January to August 2021, he served as Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister. From July 2019 to January 2021, he served as Deputy Minister of the Interior, responsible for local government and electoral issues.

From the election of Kyriakos Mitsotakis as the President of New Democracy, in 2016, to July 2019, he has been the Party’s Director of Information Technology and head of the digital campaign of the May 2019 European elections as well as the July 2019 national elections.

Until January 2015, he served as the Secretary General of the Ministry of Administrative Reform and E-Government and from January 2011 to August 2014, he served as the Secretary General of the Municipality of Athens. In 2010, he was a Special Adviser to the Ministry of Interior, Decentralization and E-Government, and worked on the preparation for the implementation of the new institutional framework for local government (the “Kallikratis” program) and the law on electoral expenditure for the local elections.

For over a decade, he has worked in IT and market research companies in the private sector, as a computer programmer, database administrator and data research analyst.
