The singer explained that her song is not regeton, but in Greece they call it sirto

Newsroom March 15 04:27

The song “Zari”, with which Marina Satti will represent Greece at Eurovision, has caused a variety of reactions.

Within days of its release, it has managed to go viral, but not only in a positive way. Although abroad “Zari” has won over the audience, garnering millions of views, both on YouTube and other platforms, Greeks have not embraced it in the same way.

Opinions in Greece about “Zari” may be divided, but abroad the Greek participation has impressed from the first moment. Eurovision fans who have heard the song have been thrilled with Marina Sattis’ voice, the rhythm of the song and the fact that this year, Greece is entering with Greek lyrics.

In a live performance on her personal Instagram account, Marina Satti responded to those who say her song is regethon.

In it, Marina Satti can be heard singing “Glyka Glyka” over the melody of her own song, saying, “That you had me and in your village regeton”.

More specifically, she explained in English, “For those who say the song is regeton, I would like to invite you to go to YouTube and click on ‘Glyka Glyka’ by Kelly Kelekidou, she is a great Greek artist and basically this dance in ‘Zari’ is a drag. So the “regeton” for those of you outside of Greece, in Greece we call it sirto. Let’s listen to the sirto”.

What is regeton?

Regeton is a musical genre and dance style that originated in Puerto Rico.

It blends elements of rap, reggae and Latin music, creating a completely different and striking sound. Reggaeton has gained popularity around the world and has influenced music, culture and dance.
