Tokyo is expanding the list of items whose export to Russia is banned, which will include 164 additional items, mostly for industrial use, such as lithium-ion batteries, car exhausts or oil for car engines, Japan’s Ministry of Trade announced today.
These additions further lengthen the list of products whose export to Russia is banned as part of the sanctions against it due to the war in Ukraine.

Items such as thermostats, woodworking machinery, nitrocellulose products, etc. are also included and the ban will take effect on Wednesday, April 17, the ministry clarified.
