Bugonia follows two young conspiracy theorists who kidnap the high-ranking CEO of a major company, convinced that she is an alien intent on destroying planet Earth. The screenplay is written by Will Tracy, the screenwriter of Succession and The Menu.

Bugonia is based on the 2003 Korean film Save the Green Planet. This will mark their fifth collaboration after The Favourite, Poor Things, Kinds of Kindness, and the short film Bleat.
