Weather: June starts with a three-day heatwave – Temperature will reach 36 degrees

Instability is limited starting from May 30th

Newsroom May 28 10:36

Greece enters a phase of gradual and noticeable temperature rise from early June, according to a chart published by meteorologist Sakis Arnaoutoglou.

According to him, after May 30th, instability for the weather significantly diminishes, and temperatures rise.

In the chart he publishes, Monday appears as the hottest day where thermometers will show up to 36 degrees Celsius, while, as Sakis Arnaoutoglou notes, “if you are in western and southern mainland Greece, as well as in Attica and Crete away from the sea, add 2 to 3 degrees higher temperature.”

Here’s the forecast from the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (HNMS) until Saturday:

Today, Tuesday, initially generally sunny weather in most areas, with only some clouds in the morning over the Dodecanese, where local showers and isolated thunderstorms may occur. However, from noon onwards, clouds will develop in central and northern mainland areas, with local showers, mainly sporadic thunderstorms in the north. Weather will improve in the evening.

Winds will blow from west directions at 4 to 5 Beaufort in the Ionian Sea and from west-northwest at 4 to 6 Beaufort in the Aegean Sea. Temperatures will remain relatively stable, reaching 26 to 29 degrees Celsius in mainland areas, 25 to 26 degrees Celsius in the Ionian Islands, and 24 to 27 degrees Celsius in the eastern Aegean islands.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, clouds will increase temporarily in the Ionian Sea and from noon onwards in mainland areas, with local showers or storms, and sporadic thunderstorms in the north. Weather phenomena in most areas will cease in the evening. Generally sunny weather with temporary clouds in Crete during the afternoon. Visibility in the morning and evening hours in mainland areas may be locally limited.

Winds will be variable and weak in the north, while from west directions at 3 to 5 Beaufort in the south. Temperatures will not change significantly, ranging from 26 to 28 degrees Celsius in mainland areas, locally reaching 29 degrees Celsius, and 25 to 27 degrees Celsius in the islands.
