Cyber attack on London hospitals – Cancellation of surgeries and treatments

Hospitals said the incident had a "significant impact" on service provision, with blood transfusions particularly affected

Major hospitals in the British National Health Service (NHS) have been targeted in a cyber attack, resulting in services being put out of action, according to British media.

Among the functions that have been affected are those related to blood tests and transfusions.

King’s College Hospital, Guy’s and St Thomas’ – including Royal Brompton and Evelina London Children’s Hospital – and primary care services are among those affected, according to the BBC.

The hospitals said the incident had had a “significant impact” on service provision, with blood transfusions particularly affected.

Some procedures and operations have been cancelled or redirected to other NHS providers as hospital staff continue to assess which operations can be carried out safely.
