The first briefing on the European elections was given shortly before 8 am by the Deputy Minister of the Interior, Theodoros Livanios.
After stating that the elections are being held without problems and after thanking those participating in the electoral process, Mr. Livanios said that a total of 18,380 polling stations have been set up throughout the territory and are waiting for voters until 7 pm when the polls close.
The Deputy Minister of the Interior, Theodoros Livanios, said that 178,588 voted by mail.
Specifically, Mr. Livanios said: “The process has started since 7 am throughout the territory and is progressing smoothly, with any minor problems that have been identified having been resolved in cooperation with the representatives of the judicial authority and the Municipalities. Voting takes place in 18,380 polling stations in total throughout Greece.” In fact, he emphasized the importance of “know where you are voting” to avoid inconvenience.
Furthermore, the General Superintendent for Monitoring the Postal Vote process, Supreme Court judge Christos Katsigiannis, issued an act by which he verified the completion of the postal vote collection process. “A total of 178,588 files voted, of which 136,451 correspond to residents abroad and 42,137 to residents abroad,” he said.

Regarding the postal voting process, he added that “yesterday afternoon (06/08), after the completion of the vote collection, the voters, who did not send a file or were not received in time, were informed, in order to exercise from today on 11 in the morning until 7 in the evening their right to vote at the polling station, where they vote”. Also, Christos Katsigiannis added the following: “All the other voters, who participated and had applied for a postal vote and sent and received their file on time, they have a special indication in the electoral roll and cannot exercise their right to vote” .
Regarding the update on the progress of the electoral process, he also emphasized: “Around 13:45 the Ministry of the Interior will give a first estimate of the participation based on the data that the judicial representatives have transmitted. The same will happen at 14:45 and 17:45. At 19:00 the process is completed and immediately after we wait for the official flow of the results. In any case, around 21:00 the estimate will give the estimate of the election result and the number of seats per party”.
