A negative record of participation seems to be recorded in this year’s European elections based on the data already announced by the Ministry of Interior as at 17:30 in the afternoon the participation rate was 32.9% while at the same time in the national elections last June it was 48%,

The picture of high abstention began to form early in the morning as the first announced figure (13.1%) fell short of that of June 2023 (16%).

At 2:30 pm the turnout announcement reported that 2,504,389 voters had voted, a 26.1% figure compared to 31.5% in June 2023.

The analysts’ assessment is that turnout “slowed down” quite a bit from midday onwards as if it continued at the same pace it started in the morning, then at 5:30pm it should have been in the region of 39%
