The national artistic swimming team won the silver medal in the Acrobatics event at the European Aquatics Championships held in Belgrade.
In a final that started late due to rain and included participation from three countries, the Greek team, consisting of Maria Alzigkouzi-Kominea, Thaleia Dampali, Athina Kamariopoulou, Zoe Karaggelou, Maria Karapanagiotou, Artemis Koutraki, Iphigenia Krommydaki, and Vasiliki Thanos, scored 191.8100 points, securing second place behind Germany, which scored 192.7166 points.
It’s worth noting that the German team was composed of seven women, Clara Blaier, Amelie Blumental Hatch, Maria Denisov, Solène Guisard, Daria Martens, Zuzana Rofner, and Daria Ton, as well as 27-year-old Fridtjof Seidel, who has a background in diving.
Italy took third place in the acrobatics final with a score of 159.2966 points.
The artistic swimming events at the European Championships in Belgrade conclude tomorrow (June 14) with three finals. From the Greek side, the Olympic duet of Evangelia Platanioti and Sofia Malkogeorgou will compete at 11:30 a.m. in the technical program final, aiming for a medal. In the afternoon (5:30 p.m.), the final in the free team event will take place, with only four countries participating, and Greece is the favorite for the gold.
