There is increased international demand for homes in the Cyclades mainly from the USA, UK, Germany, France & Switzerland

Newsroom June 19 01:57

The trends in prices and the domestic and international demand for home purchases on Greek islands were recorded by SPI, the price index of Spitogatos, and the demand index SDI, which is determined by the volume of searches on Spitogatos.

Greek islands have always charmed tourists from Greece and abroad, while also being attractive destinations for home purchases. In May 2024, the list of the most expensive islands to buy a home included Mykonos in the Cyclades, Paxos in the Ionian Islands, Skiathos in the Sporades, Hydra in the Saronic Islands, Patmos in the Dodecanese, Ikaria in the North Aegean Islands, and Chania in Crete. On the other hand, those interested in buying a home for less than €2,000 per square meter can look in Skopelos, Salamina, Rhodes, Kos, the North Aegean Islands like Chios, Crete in areas like Rethymno and Lasithi, as well as in Evia.

There is an increase in international demand for buying homes on the islands of Greece, while interest from Greeks for buying homes on Greek islands is slightly reduced compared to the previous year.

Demand for homes for sale in the Cyclades has increased, compared to the previous year, with the United States of America (USA), the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Switzerland being the five countries from which the highest volume of searches for homes for sale on a Cycladic island comes. The most popular Cyclades islands for home purchase by potential foreign buyers are Paros, Syros, Naxos, and Mykonos. Specifically, in Paros, the highest demand for home purchases comes from the United States of America, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Israel. In Syros, prospective buyers from the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Germany, France, and Belgium are looking for homes for sale.

Domestic demand for homes for sale in the Sporades is slightly reduced, while there is a slight increase in demand from abroad, with Skiathos being at the top of the preferences of potential buyers outside Greece. The top five countries with the highest interest in homes for sale in the Sporades are the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Germany, Sweden, and France.
