In a remarkable act of compassion, radiologist Efterpi Constantaroianni at the Children’s Oncology Unit, Marianna V. Vardinogianni-Elpida (Hope), accompanied an abandoned infant into a CT scanner when there was no attendant available to immobilize the child.
Constantaroianni shared a poignant photo on Facebook, writing, “I thought it was right, observing the Hippocratic Oath, to take the radiation together, as his mother would have done, if she hadn’t given up, God knows why…!!”
She continued, “I felt the infant was like baby Jesus, as we must see everyone around us. To learn that the heart is filled by giving… and that if there is no love for our fellow man, whatever else we do is useless.”
The Radiologist’s Post
“When you work through pain, all other problems seem insignificant, and you learn to smile from the heart every day!!
A Routine Act of Kindness
Speaking to OPEN on Friday morning, Constantaroianni expressed, “It’s an honor to work there (in the oncology unit).” She added that the child had a positive outcome.
Regarding her gesture, she said, “Every day we do this, I didn’t feel like I did anything different because for us, it’s every day.”
