The Coast Guard conducted a rescue operation for illegal immigrants in distress aboard a sailboat off the coast of Amorgos.

According to information from the Coast Guard, the sailboat carrying the illegal immigrants was located between Amorgos and Astypalea, amidst winds reaching 5 Beaufort.

Three Coast Guard vessels initially collected the foreign nationals.

Subsequently, the 77 rescued individuals were transported to the port of Naxos by a Coast Guard vessel and a nearby tanker.
