British Times and Thetravel.com recommend Andros for off-season vacations

"Even in the summer, most visitors explore untouched beaches and misty mountainous areas, never feeling crowded."

Newsroom June 25 01:04

Andros is among the six islands British travelers can visit before and after summer, according to a study by the British Times.

The article highlights that “unlike most of its Cycladic neighbors, Andros is exceptionally green, incredibly diverse, and ‘ignores’ mass tourism. Even in the summer, most visitors explore untouched beaches and misty mountainous areas and never feel crowded.

The capital, Chora, which juts into the Aegean, boasts imposing mansions, museums, and public buildings, a legacy of its 19th-century maritime heritage. Farmers still delight passing travelers with fresh goat cheese and jars of fruit, while wetlands rustle with migratory birds and dense forests boast abundant freshwater springs. The Andros Routes offers excellent hiking options with many marked trails on the island.”

In the same vein, Thetravel.com, in a new extensive feature, considers “the popular destinations of the Cyclades overrated and instead encourages its millions of readers to opt for Andros, which remains a well-hidden gem of the Aegean.” According to the popular international travel website, “Andros generously offers emerald waters, organized trails, high-quality restaurants, and is an ideal place for vacations almost year-round without the oppressive tourist pressure.”

Recently, the Municipality and the Tourism Committee have been aiming to promote Andros off-season through special journalistic missions, international media coverage, and collaborations with organizations. “Our narrative is expanding with an emphasis on extending the season. The traffic during holiday periods in recent months has increased significantly, which also shows the trend for vacations in non-mass destinations beyond July and August,” stated Nikos Moustakas, the appointed municipal tourism councilor of Andros Municipality.
