Dimitris Papadimoulis announced his retirement from politics via a post on Twitter after ten consecutive years as Vice President of the European Parliament. “I will continue, away from elected offices, as an active citizen,” Papadimoulis stated.
He highlighted his service: “After ten consecutive years as elected Vice-President of the European Parliament with large majorities—the only Greek and the only one from the Left—and three terms as an MEP (2004-2009, 2014-2019, 2019-2024), I am retiring from active politics. I will continue, far from elected office, to serve the same values as an active citizen.” He also included a link to his public account in the post.
