An exercise that included the firing of guided missiles, was conducted on July 2 and 3 in the wider Ionian Sea area by the Hellenic Navy (HN), in the presence of the Hellenic Navy Chief of Staff, Vice Admiral Demetriou-Eleftheriou Katara.
The launches were conducted by frigate, fast ships, surveillance ships, helicopters of the Navy and aircraft of the Hellenic Air Force (HAF), where a wide range and number of types of HN’s missile capabilities were successfully tested in complex and demanding scenarios of surface and air threats.
The end result of the surface firing was the sinking of the two assigned targets, the statement added.
The activity is part of the annual operational training program of the Fleet Headquarters units to evaluate and increase the combat capability and operational readiness of the participants, the statement concludes.
