The words of Areti’s mother, Mrs. Georgia, are heartbreaking, about the murder of her daughter by her estranged husband in Amphilochia, unable to hold back her tears.
“They had been separated for some time. He didn’t want to see her with another man. It’s too bad, I should have gone to the police myself. He hit her on Tuesday too, her eye was swollen. She went to the police and then her husband disappeared,” says the 36-year-old’s mother at first and continues about the moment she learned of her child’s murder: “I was told ‘Areti was killed by Babis’. I screamed, people came out and they said ‘what’s wrong with you?’ and I said ‘I don’t have a child anymore, this one I had he killed.”
