A fishing vessel during its approach to the central port of Kavala collided with a docked tourist boat due to incorrect handling.
The incident happened yesterday afternoon while the collision resulted in abrasions on the fishing boat and material damage to the tourist boat.
Port Authority officials went to the spot and found that the manoeuvres were done by two foreigners and not the captain of the fishing boat. All three were arrested while no injuries were reported from the incident and no marine pollution was observed.
The Central Port Authority of Kavala, which is conducting the preliminary investigation, banned the sailing of both vessels until the presentation of the certificate of airworthiness from the fishing vessel’s registrar and the presentation of a new certificate of airworthiness of the tourist vessel.
