Halkidiki: More than 100 umbrellas and sunbeds were torn down on the beach of Kalyves

More than a hundred chairs and umbrellas were removed this morning by the Municipality of Polygyros from the beach of Kalyves, Halkidiki.

The operation began at 6:30 am with two trucks of the municipality and a machine, and was carried out in the presence of the Deputy Mayor of Daily Life, Vassilis Fardogiannis and the Deputy Mayor of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Yiannis Lelegiannis, with the parallel assistance of the Police.

“We have advised for a month now that we will be moving to clear the beaches of umbrellas and sunbeds, as we have pointed out that their pile is illegal. It is not possible for some holidaymakers to appropriate the beaches. There may have been a tolerance of this illegality in previous years, but this must end. It is a matter of respect to all, “stressed in his statements the Deputy Mayor of Daily Life, Vassilis Fardogiannis, noting that this operation will be repeated until it is understood that the beaches should be accessible to all citizens.
