Μusk clashes again with London over anti-immigration protests

The billionaire's comments on X about the authorities' handling of the riots have sparked outrage in the British government

Newsroom August 6 01:49

Elon Musk does not appear to be deterred by the displeasure expressed yesterday by Downing Street regarding his comment made a few days ago that “civil war is inevitable” in the UK.

According to British media, Musk’s comment about the violent incidents during the anti-immigration protests that have been occurring daily since the massacre of three girls in northwest England has infuriated London. Yesterday, Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s spokesperson stated that “there is no excuse for comments like these.” “What we have seen in this country is organized thuggery that has no place on our streets or online… We are talking about a minority of bullies who do not represent Britain… The Prime Minister does not share these sentiments [of Musk],” the spokesperson for Starmer specifically said.

A few hours later, the billionaire struck back again, commenting on a video posted by the British Prime Minister, which emphasized that attacks against mosques and Muslims would not be tolerated. “Shouldn’t you be concerned about attacks on all communities?” Musk questioned pointedly.

However, the billionaire did not stop there. During the night, according to the Daily Mail, he also criticized the British police, expressing agreement with a cartoon that implies the authorities handle illegal immigrants and locals with double standards.

At the top of the cartoon, there is a caricature of a man wearing a headband with the Pakistani flag, holding a knife and saying “kill the infidels.” “We are here to protect you,” replies a police officer next to him. At the bottom of the cartoon, another man says, “I just don’t want my children to be stabbed,” and the police officer accuses him of being a “Nazi.”

The user who posted the cartoon argued in the caption that the reputation of the UK police has been tarnished, with Musk commenting that there does indeed appear to be unequal treatment.
