Chinese diver Quan Hongchan won her second gold medal in diving at this year’s Olympic Games on Tuesday. In her first dive, she achieved a perfect score, receiving 10s from all the judges.
The dive, featuring 3.5 forward twists, created minimal splash as the Olympic champion entered the pool.
“I believe that a 10 is something incredible. The feeling is fantastic,” Quan Hongchan said after the competition.
Although she is only 17, Quan has achieved a perfect dive three other times, including twice when she won the gold medal at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics.
Overall, Quan scored 425.60 points, with the second-place diver, Chen from China, earning 420.70 points, and the third-place diver, Kim from North Korea, receiving 364.50 points.
Quan’s first gold in Paris came in the synchronized 10-meter platform diving, with a dive that also made history.
