The Ministry of Interior will provide 11,250,000 euros to support the municipalities, the Municipal Water Supply and Sewerage Enterprises (DEYA) and the Water Supply and Sewerage Associations of the country, in order to implement immediate actions to tackle water scarcity.
In the Invitation, which was signed by the Minister of Interior, Thodoris Livanios, within the framework of the Development Program of the Ministry of Interior, entitled “Implementation of works by the local authorities of the country to address the phenomenon of water scarcity II”, municipalities are invited, Municipal Water Supply and Sewerage Enterprises (Municipal Water Supply and Sewerage Enterprises) and Water Supply and Sewerage Associations, to proceed with the submission of proposals in order to be funded under Priority Axis 2.6 “Drinking water supply and water management”.
The objective of the call is to address the phenomenon of water scarcity through improving the level of water management and drinking water supply infrastructure.
In particular, the following actions are exclusively funded under this call:
– Drilling of new or upgrading of existing water supply boreholes.
– Desalinated water supply service through the rental of desalination systems.
Each potential beneficiary is entitled to submit only one (1) proposal up to the amount of 150,000 euros.
It is clarified that the municipalities of the Regions of the Ionian Islands, South Aegean and North Aegean, which are excluded from this call, will be financed by a corresponding action of the Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy.
