The brown felt hat worn by Harrison Ford in the second installment of the Indiana Jones film series was auctioned for the astronomical sum of $630,000, according to the auction house Propstore.
The iconic archaeologist appeared with the fedora hat in the 1984 film Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and it was also worn by his stuntman, Dean Ferrandini, who owned it. According to the auction house, the initial estimate was between $250,000 and $500,000.
Made by the Herbert Johnson Hat Company in London, the fedora features the gold initials “IJ” inside. According to the description, maintaining its shape during filming was a “constant challenge.” The film was directed by Steven Spielberg, with Kate Capshaw and Jonathan Ke Quan starring alongside Ford.
