The Novel Written by “Stranger Things” Star Millie Bobby Brown to Be Adapted for TV

The novel “Nineteen Things,” written by Millie Bobby Brown, star of the horror series “Stranger Things,” and released in September 2023, will be adapted for television on Netflix.

According to Deadline, the Emmy-nominated actress will produce the project through her company, PCMA Productions, and is in discussions for the leading role.

“Nineteen Things,” inspired by her grandmother’s experiences during World War II, was co-written with Kathleen McGurl.

The Novel by Millie Bobby Brown Follows 18-Year-Old Nellie Morris During WWII

The story follows 18-year-old Nellie Morris, who lives in the Bethnal Green neighborhood of East London and faces the challenges of wartime life, including the threat of bombings, the separation from loved ones, and the beginning of a romance with an American airman.

The novel focuses on the tragedy that occurred at the Bethnal Green Underground station, where 173 people lost their lives seeking shelter during aerial bombings.

The screenplay adaptation will be handled by Anthony McCarten, a four-time Oscar nominee. Jonathan Eyrich, through Rideback, will also be involved in the production, with Nick Reynolds serving as the executive producer.
