The Gavriliadis family (originally from Pyrgos) vacation in Andros had a tragic ending on Friday morning. The family had traveled with friends to the Cycladic island and this morning 22-year-old Stathis and his father, well-known Pyrgos businessman Takis Gavriliadis, took a ride in a “pig” they had rented in the Stivari area of Batsi.
At about 10:30 am the “sow” swerved on the road from Batsi to Chora and fell into a five-metre-deep cliff. As a result of the fall, the father was injured in the arm and the son in the head. The Fire Service and the ambulance service quickly set up an operation to recover the injured.
According to enandro.gr and due to the seriousness of the 22-year-old’s condition, a helicopter was called for airlift, but the young man did not make it and succumbed to his injuries.
The police station of Gavrio is conducting a preliminary investigation into the accident.
