The New Democracy MEP, who had spent 16 months in prison, submitted the relevant request last July, as he is entitled to do under Albanian law after serving two-thirds of his sentence.

With this decision, Fredi Beleris will now be able to carry out his duties in the European Parliament without any hindrance.

It should be noted that the Albanian court had previously postponed the hearing of the request, citing various excuses. The last postponement occurred at the end of July, with the judges attributing it to summer vacations.
