Newsroom September 2 09:01

In recent hours, a video has gone viral on the internet, showing an attack carried out by a group of young Turks on US soldiers.

As seen in the video, the Turks are covering the head of an American with a bag and shouting “yankee go home.”

The attack took place after the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp docked in Smyrna (Izmir).

The Turks, who are members of the Union of Turkish Youth (TGB), essentially the youth wing of the Homeland Party, cornered the American soldiers and attacked them, leading to violent incidents afterward.

The arrival of the ship has sparked disputes among the Turks.

It is worth noting that the USS Wasp arrived at the port of Smyrna on Sunday, September 1. The ship is operating in the region as part of the U.S. efforts to deter potential threats against Israel, particularly from Hezbollah and other militant groups.

The visit of the USS Wasp to Turkey follows its participation in joint naval exercises with the Turkish Navy from August 13-17, during which it conducted various training operations with the Turkish TCG Anadolu, the country’s first amphibious assault ship, and the frigate TCG Gökova, according to the Turkish Minute website.
