In this context, it has decided to join forces with specialized agencies to heal – as far as possible – the wounds left behind by the fires in the green lungs of Attica. In particular, in the spring of 2024, it took action with the assistance of the non-profit company “Alliance for Greece”, in the context of the “TO DASOS MAS” program, for the reforestation of 50 acres in the area of Penteli, and specifically in Drafi, which had burnt to the ground in July 2022. The restoration of the forest was based on a reforestation study that proposes trees with low water needs and biological requirements that are consistent with bioclimatic conditions while acting as a deterrent to the expansion of a future fire. Also, in 2023, with the exclusive sponsorship of Attiki Odos, Anthousas Park in Pallini became green again. Attiki Odos adopted an area of about 20 acres in which tree seedlings were planted that are in harmony with the local ecosystem. The reforestation of this important recreational pole was completed in cooperation with the Municipality of Pallini and the non-profit environmental organization We4All.

At the same time, over the years, Attiki Odos has been a green highway from end to end, with staff employed permanently to care for 800,000 trees and shrubs and 78,000 square meters of turf. In addition, to protect local wildlife and stray and abandoned animals, it works with the ANIMA Wildlife Protection and Care Association and the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Animals.

For Attiki Odos, the protection of the environment is a collective affair and requires constant vigilance for a sustainable tomorrow.
