It seems that summer has bid us farewell for good, as after the bad weather Atena that hit the country, from Friday the weather scene will be affected – not significantly and only temporarily in the western parts of our country – by a new barometric low.
The information is confirmed in a post by meteorologist Yannis Kallianos, stating:
“In the last few hours, information has been circulating about an upcoming bad weather called “BORIS”, which will hit the country tomorrow, Friday, i.e. it will last only 24 hours. Many sites have highlighted this news, and it is logical, because they reproduce announcements of experts. The sites are therefore not responsible.
However, I want to emphasize that meteorology is not the science of sensationalism, but of serious and responsible scientists who inform the public accurately.
For tomorrow, Friday 13/9, thunderstorms are forecast mainly in the Northern Ionian Sea, Epirus and locally in Macedonia. The rest of the West and North will see only local rain, as will the same on the islands of the East Aegean. For those worried about heavy rain, flooding or ‘disasters’ in much of the country, I can assure you that there is no need to worry about 90% of Greece.
Only in the Northern Ionian Sea, Epirus and the northernmost geographical parts of Central and Eastern Macedonia, storms will be quite strong and may cause localized flooding.”
From the bad weather Boris the heaviest rainfall is expected along the Adriatic coast, where up to 100 mm of rain may fall in two days. Thunderstorms, brief downpours and possible hail are also forecast for coastal areas.
Some rivers may reach flood warning levels, depending on the amount of rainfall Austria, Slovenia and other nearby countries receive.”
At the same time, as meteorologist Panagiotis Giannopoulos informs us, from next Tuesday, a bad weather system from Italy is expected to affect our country, which is predicted to bring intense phenomena.
