A state of alert has been raised within the Greek Police (ELAS) following the arrest of a man from Turkey on Chios for weapons possession and forgery.
According to information from protothema.gr, the officers handling the case reportedly have evidence suggesting that the detainee may be connected to individuals involved in criminal organizations responsible for the deadly ambushes that occurred in Loutsa and Piraeus.
While further details about his activities are yet to emerge, reports indicate that when he was arrested, he was found to be in possession of a fake Italian driver’s license and identity card. Additionally, a pistol with ammunition was discovered.
The Greek Intelligence Service (EYP) has also been informed about the case, and the investigating officers are thoroughly examining the detainee’s contacts to determine whom he interacted with and what he was doing on the Aegean island.
