Weather in Athens: Thunderstorms from noon in the West and North

Severe weather today in Ionian and central Macedonia and Sterea, Thessaly and Peloponnese

Today is forecast to be a difficult day with bad weather affecting several areas of the country.

Today Friday across the country, cloudy spells are forecast, with local rain and occasional thunderstorms mainly in the Ionian Sea, the mainland and the northern Aegean Sea. The most intense phenomena will occur in the morning hours in the Ionian Sea, in the midday and afternoon hours in central Macedonia and Sterea, Thessaly and the Peloponnese and in the evening in the northwestern Aegean. Winds will blow in the west from southerly directions 3 to 4 Beaufort and in the east from northerly directions 4 to 6 Beaufort. The temperature will reach 24 to 27 degrees Celsius and locally in the eastern mainland and the eastern islands 28 to 29 degrees Celsius.

In Attica, clouds are forecast at times and mainly in the midday and afternoon hours local rain and possibly isolated thunderstorms mainly in the west and north. Winds from the north 3 to 4 and in the east occasionally locally 5 Beaufort, the temperature up to 27 degrees Celsius.

In Thessaloniki, clouds will increase at times with rain and mainly in the midday and afternoon hours sporadic thunderstorms. Winds variable 3 to 4 Beaufort, the temperature up to 23 degrees Celsius.

Autumn weather will remain autumnal through Saturday, with localized showers and sporadic thunderstorms in several areas of the country. By Sunday, however, rainfall will be significantly reduced and there will be much more sunshine. Northern winds will strengthen in the Aegean and at the weekend will reach up to 7 Beaufort locally. The temperature will not change significantly, with maximum values ranging between 24-28 degrees.

Unsettled weather with local showers and occasional thunderstorms mainly in the Ionian Sea, the mainland and the northern Aegean. The strongest phenomena will occur in the morning hours in the Ionian Sea, in the midday and afternoon hours in central Macedonia and Sterea, Thessaly and the Peloponnese and in the evening in the northwestern Aegean.

In the midday and afternoon hours clouds will develop in the rest of the continent and local rain or rain will occur, mainly in the mountains.
Winds in the west will be variable 3 to 4 Beaufort, while in the east north winds will blow 4 to 6 Beaufort and in the Aegean Sea locally 7 Beaufort.
The temperature will not change significantly.

The weather will not change in the north-eastern part of the country.
