Sudden downpour that caused flooding hit Cannes today, causing cars to drift into the streets and putting the French Riviera city, famous for its film festival, on high alert.

Despite the flooded roads and the intensity of the event, no injuries were reported.
In the same area in 2015, at least 19 people had died in the floods and tens of thousands were left without electricity.
The city’s mayor David Lisnar told BFM TV that he would seek explanations from other authorities after the city received a government alert an hour after the storm began.

The French weather service said in a bulletin that a new storm is likely to hit Cannes in the afternoon hours.
